Best for
Rosemary & Clove Hair Butter is best for:-
- Thin, damaged hair.
- Dandruff and bald spots.
- Sealing moisture in during protective styling.
Ingredients
- X3 tablespoons of unrefined Shea butter
- X3 tablespoons of ground cloves
- X10 stalks of fresh rosemary leaves
- Optional: X3 tablespoons of essential oil
Instructions
- Put all ingredients in a mixing bowl.
- Using the double boiling method, melt the oil and the butter, stirring occasionally to allow the oils to infuse into the mixture.
- Boil for 25 minutes and then set aside to cool.
- After cooling, strain the mixture to separate the whole particles from the liquid. Make sure that the strainer has thin holes, to make sure that no clove granules get into the oil.
- Cover the bowl with a lid or foil and then place the mixture in the freezer for 5 – 10 minutes. After this period, the liquid will have solidified. (*Nahazo tip: Do not leave it in the freezer for too long, as it will become too hard to mix thoroughly.)
- Transfer the mixture to a mixing bowl and using a hand mixer, whip up the mixture thoroughly for 10 – 15 minutes. You can use a beating spoon, should you not have a mixer. The hair butter should have a cream-like consistency. (Also note, that when mixing the ingredients, the longer you mix, the stiffer the texture becomes – so continue mixing until you get your desired texture.)
- Optional: You can round it off by adding a few drops of an essential oil before transferring it to a storage jar.
It is now ready for use.
Storage
You can store the butter in your cabinet at room temperature.
Usage
Rosemary & Clove Hair Butter can be used in the following ways:-
- Pre-poo treatment – On your wash day, apply the butter to your sectioned hair from root to tips, twist your hair, and then cover it with a plastic bag (for at least 30 minutes). You can then proceed with your wash day routine.
- Sealant – Rosemary and clove butter works well as a sealant in the LOC or LCO regime.
- Conditioning treatment – You can use this butter in your deep conditioning treatment. After shampooing your hair, apply to your hair in sections, twist, and then cover it with a shower cap for 30 minutes, before rinsing it off.
