To do this, limit using any materials that rub against your temple (especially when sleeping), or dry out your hair (cotton pillow cases, woollen hats.

Also invest in a silk scarf, bonnet and pillowcase to reduce hair breakage from friction, when sleeping. Satin / silk materials do not absorb any moisture from your hair, as opposed to cotton / polyseter materials.

This applies to both braids and wigs, as these continuously put strain on your scalp.

Rather vary out your hairstyles and get used to giving your hair a break by not manipulating it often. This gives your edges a chance to breath and re-grow.

6. Get into the habit of massaging your scalp

Scalp massages are great for stimulating hair growth.

Add peppermint oil to your preferred scalp oil and massage daily for at least 10 – 15 minutes. This routine will help nurture your hair back to health.

7. Give hair salons a break

It is a bitter truth, but most (not all) hair salons are out to make money. Because of this, they may not take the time or make the effort to care for your edges properly, and may even do more damage than good.

If you have not found a decent natural hair salon, then rather learn to care for your hair yourself or get a trusted fellow natural to help care for your hair.
